The story

These clients had a fabulous collection of art and vintage photography that became the clear pivot point for their new bedroom. A captivating piece by artist Mark Brosmer was the beginning of a creative journey that led to a bold juxtaposition of textures and muted jewel tones. Washable sisal wallpaper, a durable rug, pick-stitch matelassé spread, and a cut velvet upholstered bench all complimented each other. The couple’s two young boys liked to come in and chat in the evenings so we created a sitting area for them with fun swivel chairs. New blackout drapery and blinds allowed the couple to control light levels. A dramatic LED smoky glass chandelier created necessary ambient light and highlighted the art.

A bedroom redesign in Seattle's Laurelhurst neighborhood — jewel tones, sisal wallpaper, cut velvet, and a dramatic chandelier anchored by curated art.
